Individual therapy is a type of psychological service aimed at people aged 18 and over, and offers a personalized approach that can help with several psychological complaints and conditions such as, but not limited to:

Psychological and emotional difficulties

Depression, anxiety, autism spectrum, feeling overwhelmed, rumination over past events, frequent shifts in mood, sleep problems

Understanding our own emotional and psychological needs helps reduce symptoms of distress. Therapy guides us through this process, and supports us in developing our skills to manage challenging situations and better cope in everyday life.

Relationship and developmental issues

Conflicts within relationships, unmet emotional needs from childhood (feeling unaccepted, unloved, unsupported, unappreciated)

Our closest relationships can mirror a deeper emotional pattern rooted in early childhood experiences. Therapy allows us to explore these attachment patterns, heal past trauma, and build more balanced and meaningful connections in the present.

Academic and performance challenges

Problems with concentration, test anxiety, low grades, inability to complete tasks, procrastination, perfectionism

These challenges can be connected to self-esteem and self-image issues. Improving our self-image allows us to accomplish necessary tasks and develop beyond certain limiting beliefs. In different circumstances, academic difficulties could indicate a learning impairment.

Life transitions and adjustment concerns

Integration issues, cultural changes, difficulty adapting to new situations, changing jobs or universities, marriage, divorce, loss and grief

Major life changes, such as personal or cultural changes, can leave us feeling lost and unsettled. In therapy we can learn to find better ways to navigate these transitions, and process the different emotions that naturally accompany any major change.

Privacy Policy

Psychologists are legally required to collect and securely store personal data and basic treatment information. These records are confidential and can be accessed by the patient at any time.

The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (Sosiaali- ja terveysministeriö) regulates the rights of healthcare patients and the responsibilities of healthcare professionals. According to the Act on Healthcare Professionals 559/1994 (Laki terveydenhuollon ammattihenkilöistä) and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Decree on Patient Documents 94/2022 (Sosiaali- ja terveysministeriön asetus potilasasiakirjoista), healthcare professionals are obligated by law to collect personal data such as the patient's name, date of birth, personal identification number, municipality of residence and contact information; which is stored in patient records. Personal data is stored in accordance with the Act on the Processing of Customer Data in Social and Health Care 703/2023 (Laki sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon asiakastietojen käsittelystä) and in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (Yleinen tietosuoja-asetus). This requires that patient records are confidential and can be accessed only by the psychologist and the responsible authority if necessary. Patients have the right to access their information at any time. The law also states that if a private healthcare service provider in Finland ceases its operations, they must submit all their records to Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland) for storage. Psychologists are also required to collect documents or notes regarding each patient's case. These documents are minimal and are used only for treatment purposes and to keep track of therapy sessions. The psychologist's notes are also confidential, and can be shared only with the patient themselves if requested. Documents will not be shared with third parties unless the patient has given their written consent.
